Business Management
All the tools, activities, and systems used to administer a formal business, supervising operations and controlling resources to reach peak productivity and objectives.
Management (process)
Deciding how to best use a business’s resources—employees, equipment, and money—to produce goods or provide services.
Natural Resources
Raw materials supplied by nature that a business uses in production (e.g., land, water, minerals).
Human Resources
The employees whose skills, knowledge, and labor contribute to a business’s operations.
Capital Resources
Man-made assets such as machinery, buildings, and money used to produce goods or services.
Peak Productivity
The highest level of efficiency and output attainable when resources are optimally managed.
Job Interview
A conversation between a job applicant and an employer’s representative conducted to assess whether the applicant should be hired.
Common Interview Questions
Frequently asked items such as “Tell me about yourself,” “Why do you want this job?” and “What are your salary expectations?”
Dress Appropriately
Wearing professional attire—dark suit, white shirt, simple tie for men; modest, well-fitted clothing for women—to create a positive first impression.
Arrive Early
Reaching the interview location at least 15 minutes beforehand to demonstrate punctuality and preparation.
Firm Handshake
A confident, non-“fishy” grip used when greeting interviewers to convey professionalism.
Elevator Pitch
A well-honed, brief introduction summarizing who you are and the value you bring, delivered at the start of an interview.
Curriculum Vitae (CV)
A concise document outlining education, experience, and qualifications, presented in an easy-to-read format.
Introductory Statement (CV)
A short opening paragraph in a CV that presents the candidate’s professional profile and career goals.
Key Skills Summary
A section of a CV listing core competencies relevant to the job sought.
Chronological Career History
CV format that lists employment in reverse-order by date, highlighting career progression.
Strong References
Credible individuals who can attest to a candidate’s abilities and character, strengthening a CV.
Politeness
Courteous behavior toward everyone during the interview process, reflecting good manners and professionalism.
