Conditioned Fear Response
A learned response where a neutral stimulus becomes feared through association with an aversive stimulus.
Preparedness
The evolutionary predisposition to learn certain types of stimuli faster than others, particularly those that are threats.
Galvanic Skin Response
A measure of physiological arousal, represented by the slight amount of sweat on the skin.
Conditioned Stimulus
A previously neutral stimulus that, after being paired with an unconditioned stimulus, elicits a conditioned response.
Unconditioned Stimulus
A stimulus that naturally and automatically triggers a response without prior learning.
Conditioned Taste Aversion
A strong dislike for a food that develops after a single instance of illness following its consumption.
Contiguity
The principle that for conditioning to occur, the stimuli must be presented close together in time.
Biological Threats
Stimuli that have evolutionary significance, like snakes, which are learned about more quickly due to survival instincts.
Skin Conductance
A physiological measure of the sweat gland activity indicating emotional or arousal responses.
Nerve Tracts
Connections in the nervous system that transmit signals related to digestive feedback influencing learning.
