What three tests are included in the licensing requirements to get your driver's license?
Vision screening, Knowledge test, and a Driving skills test.
What vision qualifications must an applicant have to qualify for a driver's license?
Binocular vision, Visual acuity of at least 20/40 in each eye, and A continuous field of vision of at least 140 degrees.
What does the knowledge test check for to see if you know about?
Motor vehicle laws, Safe driving practices, and Traffic signs.
What must a vehicle have to be used for a driving skill's test?
Up-to-date license plates and registration, proof that the vehicle is insured, be safe to drive, have no cracks on the windshield, and have at least a half tank of gas.
What must you bring when you apply for your driver's license?
A document that proves your age, a document that proves your lawful status, your Social Security Number (SSN), or proof that you are not eligible for a SSN, and two documents that prove that you live in Maryland.
Applicants younger than 25 getting a Learner's Instructional Permit:
Must be at least 15 years and 9 months old, if under age 18, your parent or legal guardian must co-sign the application, if under age 16, you must provide a completed Learner’s Permit School Attendance Certification form (DL-300).
While you have your Learner’s Instructional Permit as someone younger than 25, you must:
Complete the Maryland Driver Education Program, practice driving at least 60 hours with a supervising driver (10 hours must occur during the period beginning 30 minutes before sunset and ending 30 minutes after sunrise), and keep a Practice and Skills Log to record your practice hours.
Define what yielding the right-of-way means.
Letting other vehicles, bicyclists, or pedestrians move ahead of you or cross the road in front of you. It means letting them go first.
What is the recommended minimum following distance under ideal driving conditions?
3 to 4 seconds
What should you do if a traffic signal is not working?
Stop at a clearly marked stop line, if there is no clearly marked stop line, you must stop before entering a crosswalk, if there is no stop line or crosswalk, you must stop before entering the intersection, yield to vehicles and pedestrians in the intersection, and remain stopped until it is safe to enter and continue through the intersection.
What does the yellow color on a traffic sign mean?
General warning of what to expect ahead.
What does the orange color on a traffic sign mean?
Construction and maintenance work area warning.
What does the octagon shape on a traffic sign mean?

What do single broken white lines on the road mean?
Separates lanes where all traffic is going in the same direction, and crossing from one lane to the other is permitted. Used on roads with more than one lane.
When driving, you must turn on your headlights anytime there is not enough light to clearly see at least how many feet in front of your vehicle?

When driving in fog, what type of headlights should you use?
Low beam headlights only. Also use fog lights if you have them.
What is the name of a thin layer of ice on blacktop asphalt roads caused by ice or snow melting and re-freezing?
Black ice
What is “hydroplaning?”
When your tires lose contact with the road because you end up riding on a sheet of water. This can cause you to lose some or all control of your vehicle.
What must you do when approaching any vehicles while they are stopped, standing, or parked on a road with its lights flashing?
Move over, or if it is not safe or possible to move over, you must slow down to a safe speed.
What does Maryland consider drivers to be driving under the influence of alcohol when their blood alcohol concentration is?
.08 or higher
Are you allowed to drive with an open container of alcohol in the passenger area of the vehicle?
No, it is against the law.
What penalties can you face if you are convicted of leaving the scene of a crash that results in a serious injury?
Your license will be revoked, you could go to prison for up to 5 years and a be fined up to $5,000, or leaving the scene of a crash where someone dies is a felony where you could go to prison for up to 10 years and a be fined up to $10,000.
If a law enforcement officer stops you, what is the first thing you should do?
Pull off to the side of the road as far away from traffic as possible and turn on your flashers.
How far away must you stop from the back or front of a school bus?
At least 20 feet
What requirements must a supervising driver meet?
At least 21 years old, currently licensed for at least three years in Maryland or another state to drive the same class of vehicles that you are driving, and seated beside you, unless the vehicle is a motorcycle.
What are examples of ADAS vehicle technologies?
Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assistance, and Blind Spot Warning.
What must all motor vehicles registered in Maryland be insured for?
Personal injury and property damage liability in amounts required by law.
Is parallel parking part of the driving test?
No, parallel parking is no longer required when you take your driving test.
