Luteinizing hormone (LH)
A hormone that triggers ovulation and the development of the corpus luteum, typically produced by the anterior pituitary gland.
Follicular Phase
The first phase of the menstrual cycle, where the follicles in the ovaries mature before ovulation.
Luteal Phase
The second phase of the menstrual cycle after ovulation, characterized by hormone secretion from the corpus luteum.
Ejaculate
The fluid that is expelled from the male reproductive tract during orgasm, containing sperm.
Oocyte
A female gamete or egg cell in the process of maturation.
Interstitial Cells
Cells located between the seminiferous tubules in the testes that produce testosterone.
Corpus Luteum
A structure that develops from a follicle after ovulation, responsible for producing progesterone.
Fimbrae
Finger-like projections at the end of the fallopian tubes that help guide the egg from the ovary into the tube.
