Monomer subunits
Small molecular units that serve as the building blocks for biological macromolecules.

Dehydration synthesis
A chemical reaction that differs from hydrolysis in its method of building or breaking down molecular structures.
Hydrolysis
A chemical reaction that differs from dehydration synthesis in the way it processes elements.
Amino acids
Molecules synthesized by cells through the rearrangement of elements found in sugars.
Glycogen
A molecule with a specific functional role that distinguishes it from starch and cellulose.
Starch
A molecule with a specific functional role that distinguishes it from glycogen and cellulose.
Cellulose
A molecule with a specific functional role that distinguishes it from glycogen and starch.
