Fertilization

Pertaining to metabolism.

Membrane
A thin layer of tissue that covers a structure or cavity.
Cytogenetics
The study of chromosomal abnormalities in a cell.
-ic
A suffix that means pertaining to when referring to a body system.
Skin
The main organ in the integumentary system.
Skeleton
The bony framework of the body.
Lymph
Clear fluid collected from body tissues and transported by lymph vessels to the venous circulation.
Diaphragm
Muscular sheet separating the abdominal and thoracic cavities.
Meniscus
A disc of cartilage between the bones of a joint.
Anterior
Front.
Posterior
Back.
Transverse plane
The same plane as the horizontal plane.
Cardiovascular system
System composed of heart, vessels, veins, and blood.
Cardio
The word part that means heart.
-stasis
The suffix in homeostasis that stands for control or standstill.
Midsagittal plane
The plane that divides the body into left and right sides (also known as medial plane).
Mediastinum
A cavity/space located within the thoracic cavity.
Inferior
Positioned below.
Superior
Positioned above.
Supine position
Lying horizontally on your back with your face, chest, and torso facing upward.
