Muscle tissue

Skeletal Muscle

Striated
- refers to the striped appearance of
the muscle fibers due to organized
protein filaments
Intercalated disks
- are specialized structures found
only in cardiac muscle (heart
muscle). They are dark-staining
lines that appear at the junctions
between individual cardiac muscle
cells.
Skeletal Muscle
● Structure: Long, cylindrical,
striated cells with many nuclei at
the edges
● Function: Moves the body
(voluntary control)
● Location: Attached to bones or
connective tissue
