One of the most common forms of hair removal in the salon. The nape of the neck chest, and back are the most frequent removal requests for men

Is the growth of an unusual amount of hair on parts of the body normally bearing only downy hair, such as the faces of women and the backs of men
Two categories for hair removal
Permanent and temporary methods.
Permanent Hair Removal
Three methods- Electrolysis, photo epilation, laser hair removal
Electrolysis
Removal of hair by means of electric current that destroys the growth cells of the hair
Electrologist
Person who performs electrolysis
Photoepilation
Also known as intense pules light. Uses intense light to destroy the growth cells of the hair follicles
Laser hair removal
Hair type responds best is coarse, pigmented
Temporary hair removal
Salon techniques are considered temporary.
Shaving
The most common temporary hair removal, particularly of men’s facial hair
Tweezing
Used to remove hairs from eyebrows, and can be used to remove undesirable hairs from around the mouth and chin
Sugaring
The use of a thick, sugar-based paste. Especially appropriate for more sensitive skin types. recommended for someone with low pain tolerance and can be used on shorter hairs
Depilatories
Substances classified as alkali preparation, used for temporary removal of superfluous hair by dissolving it at skins surface
Threading
Cotton thread is twisted and rolled along the surface of the skin, entwining the hair in the thread and lifting it from the follicle
Epilators
Removes the hair from the bottom of the follicle (wax)
Wax
Hair should be ¼ inch long to be effective to wax. Trim any hair that is longer than a half-inch. Wax test on inner part of the wrist
Soft wax
may cause an allergic reaction; a patch test should be performed. Remove opposite hair growth, holding skin taut to prevent bruising. Wax should be thicker consistency
Hard wax
Thicker and does not require fabric strips for removal
Brazilian bikini waxing
technique that requires the removal of all hair from the front and back of the bikini area
Shape for eyebrows
The natural arch or the curved line follows the orbital bone. The high point of the arch of the brow should be near the outside corner of the iris
