The functional necessary process by which an organism increases the size or number of cells.

Levels of organization

The order from smallest to largest: molecule, cell, tissue, organ, organ system, organism.

Anatomy

The study of internal and external anatomical structures and physical relationships of body parts, defined as the study of structure.

Homeostatic balance (Homeostasis)

The relative stability and balance of an organism's internal environment.

Failure of homeostatic regulation

The breakdown in body balance that results in homeostatic imbalance, sickness, disease, or pathology.
