Towel Clamps
Used to hold surgical drape in place around the incision area by grasping a small amount of skin under the drape.
Mayo Scissors
Larger, blunt end used for cutting larger, thicker pieces of tissue.
Metzenbaum scissors
Smaller, more delicate (may be blunt or sharp), used for cutting thinner, more delicate tissue.
Olsen-Hegar needle holders
Able to hold a needle and cut suture in one instrument, AKA Needle drivers
"Rat tooth" or Adson Forcep
Used to grab tissue.

Used to pull back body wall.
Spay Hook
Used to help remove uterus from body cavity.
Kelly Forceps
Hemostat- transverse striations only on the distal portion (does not go all the way down the shaft), used on large vessels.
Rochester-Carmalt Forceps
Largest hemostat with longitudinal grooves- used for crushing large vessels.
Crile Forceps
Transverse serrations along the whole length, used on larger vessels.
Mosquito Forceps
Smallest forceps with transverse striations
LDS Stapler
Ligating Dividing Stapler, used for internal staples (splenectomy)
Skin Stapler
External stapler for skin lacerations
Staple remover
To remove external staples
Guillotene Nail Clipper
Used for nail trims or may be used in a dewclaw removal
Dental Curette
Used to remove tartar below the gum line, comes in different angles and shapes
Periosteal Elevator
Assist in tooth removal by elevating the tooth and breaking ligaments

Used to remove tartar/plaque

Used to remove bone pieces. This is one for the mouth

May or may not be fenestrated (have a hole), made of cloth or paper, used to keep the surgical field sterile.
