Standard 1 – Teaching and Learning
The standard focused on developing quality learning experiences aligned to course requirements, including access to resources, full course delivery, consistency, and attendance tracking.
Assessment Matrix
A document completed for every course that maps all tasks, Work Requirements, criteria, and weightings.
Scope and Sequence
A complete planning document required for each course to ensure full delivery of the TASC course document.
Internal Moderation
Processes implemented across classes of the same course to ensure consistency and comparability of assessment practices.
Standard 2 – Assessment Validity and Reliability
The standard ensuring consistent, fair, and standards-aligned assessment practices, assessment records, and teacher rationales for ratings.
Final Internal Ratings
The student scores determined by teachers which must be notified to students with a documented process before being reported to TASC.
Moderation Days
Statewide quality assurance activities in which teachers participate to ensure comparability of assessment.
Standard 3 – Academic Integrity and Ethical Assessment
The standard concerned with upholding ethical practices, including explicit instruction on academic integrity and management of plagiarism.
Student Declaration
A requirement for all relevant senior secondary students to complete starting from the updated processes in 2026.
External Assessment Rules
The specific rules governing external assessments that students and families must understand, particularly regarding folio-specific declarations.
Standard 4 – Monitoring student attainment
The standard focused on tracking student progress towards successful TCE completion and providing support strategies.
TCE
Tasmanian Certificate of Education; the attainment goal monitored through student progress tracking.
Two-year course completions
A specific enrolment type requiring centralised storage of year one records, annotated scope and sequence, and copies of summative assessments.
Standard 5 – Assessment Review and Appeal
The standard ensuring clear and fair processes for resolving assessment disputes, folio non-endorsement, and exam rule breaches.
Non-endorsement
The status of an externally assessed folio when a teacher cannot reasonably verify the authenticity of a student's work.
Standard 6 – Governance and compliance
The standard regarding meeting regulatory obligations, accurate reporting of enrolments, and secure record keeping.
TASC Liaison Officer (TLO)
A person nominated by the school to fulfill TASC-defined responsibilities, attend mandatory forums, and lead annual self-reviews.
TRACS
The communication system used by TASC for updates and official communications with providers.
Reasonable Adjustments
An application type submitted by providers to TASC to support students with specific needs, following established deadlines and evidence requirements.
MoU
Memorandum of Understanding; the agreement under which staff participate in external assessment roles such as marking, setting, and critiquing.
Standard 7 – Continuous Improvement
The standard involving the use of evidence and feedback, including an annual self-review, to refine practice and strengthen course delivery.
Annual self-review
A formal, documented process against the Standards for Providers, led by the TLO or senior leader, to evaluate school policies and delivery practices.
