What is the relationship between the voltage of one battery, and the voltage of two batteries connected end-to-end
They add together
What is the relationship between the voltage of one battery and the voltage of four batteries connected end to end
They add together
What do all magnetic objects have in common
All solid metallic objects
What is a property of a magnetic field
It can pass through objects
What affects magnetic force
distance
What is the strongest point on the electromagnet
The head
Which end of the nail in an electromagnet attracts the North
The point
Which end of the nail in an electromagnet attracts the South
The head
List three ways to improve an electromagnet
More coils, stronger battery, bigger iron core
How does a motor work
When current flows through the winding of the motor (the coils of wire), it generates a magnetic field. This magnetic field interacts with permanent magnets or other electromagnets in the motor, causing the rotor (the rotating part) to turn.
What do lenses that magnify objects have in common
They are positive
What do lenses that produce an image have in common
They are convex
Which lenses form virtual images
Concave
What is the formula for focal length
1/f = 1/do + 1/di
What is the formula to find the resistivity of a wire
ρ=R(A/L)
What is the formula to find the resistance in a wire
R = p(L/A)
