Massasoit
Wampanoag leader who formed an alliance with the Plymouth colonists; his cooperation helped the early Plymouth settlement survive.
Metacom
Also known as King Philip, he was a Wampanoag leader who organized Native resistance against New England colonists during King Philip's War.

English king who restored the monarchy after Oliver Cromwell's rule, during whose reign England expanded its colonies and passed laws strengthening control over colonial trade.

Royal governor of the Dominion of New England whose centralized rule was strongly disliked by colonists, who overthrew him during the Glorious Revolution.
