In the early 2000s, interior designs included maximalism, bright colors, and more “stuff” in general. This can also be seen in fashion and chain businesses, Since the Great Recession of 2008, people had less money, thus designs became more minimalistic.

What happened in the tech world from 2007-2010?

Before the Great Recession, designers created content for print ads, billboards, televisions, and desktop screens. Since the invention of the iPhone and iPads in 2007, designers are now creating for smaller screens making logos smaller. When a highly detailed logo shrinks, they often lose its readability. Minimalist logo designs allow that logo readability is effective no matter what size.
