Tips to find key

Sharps: The last sharp is the leading tone (7th degree) of the major key → go up a half step to find the key.

Flats: The second-to-last flat is the name of the major key (or the last flat is the 4th degree).

Circle of fifths

Going clockwise (fifths) adds sharps one by one.

•  Going counterclockwise (fourths) adds flats one by one.

•  Know where C major sits (0 accidentals) and how the circle radiates from there.

•  Also note the enharmonic pairs at the bottom (B/Cb, F#/Gb, C#/Db).
