race
A political and social construct categorizing people based on perceived physical differences such as skin color. There is no biological basis for racial categories.
racism
The belief that different races possess distinct characteristics, abilities, or qualities, especially so as to distinguish them as inferior or superior to one another.
ethnicity
Refers to a group of people sharing a common culture, including language, practices, beliefs, ancestry, and sometimes even a shared history, which often stems from a common geographical origin;
multicultural
Relating to or constituting several cultural or ethnic groups within a society.
cultural diversity
The various cultures existing in our society. This includes the differences and unique aspects that make up these cultures.
segregation
The act of setting someone or something apart from another (e.g. schools).de
segregation
The process of ending separation of groups (e.g schools were desegregated so that African-American students could attend with their white peers).
re-segregation
The process of re-separating groups of people. This occurred when families moved to the suburbs and other areas that were not accessible or occupied by persons of color.
equity
Providing persons with different things (adaptations, modifications, etc) to meet their needs (i.e. leveling the playing field).
equality
Everyone receives the same treatment, provisions, regardless of their needs.
marginalized
 Treating a group or individual person as though they are below you by isolating them and undermining them (“disempowering”). (CultureAlly.com)

a term that is used to describe persons who are not white
