Résumé
A document containing a summary of one's education, experience, and qualifications; commonly used when applying for jobs.
Opening
A vacancy, lack of occupancy, or a new job available; often used with the indefinite article 'an' as it is a countable noun.
Applicant
A person who formally applies for something, especially a job; should be distinguished from 'application' (the request) and 'appliance' (electrical device).
Requirement
A condition that is prerequisite or necessary for something; often followed by the prepositions 'of' or 'for'.
Meet
To satisfy, fulfill, or comply with requirements, needs, expectations, or demands.
Qualified
Having the necessary certificates, skills, or qualities to be considered eligible for a position; synonyms include 'certified'.
Candidate
A person who applies for a job or is nominated for election; dynamic synonym for 'applicant'.
Confidence
A feeling of self-assurance or trust in one's own or another's abilities; often used as 'show/express confidence in'.
Highly
An adverb meaning very or to a great degree; frequently modifies adjectives like 'qualified', 'recommended', or 'competent'.
Professional
Adj: relating to or belonging to a profession; N: a person with expert skills or a specific vocation.
Interview
N: a formal meeting for assessment; V: to conduct a meeting with an applicant to evaluate their suitability.
Hire
To employ someone for a specific role or task in exchange for payment.
Training
The process of teaching a person the skills or knowledge needed for a job or activity; e.g., 'on-the-job training'.
Reference
A recommendation regarding an applicant's character or ability; also relates to materials used for information.
Position
A formal job or rank within an organization; also means to place something in a specific location.
Achievement

Adjective used for people feeling admiration or respect for someone or something; distinct from 'impressive' (the thing causing the feeling).

Identify
To recognize, establish, or verify who or what someone or something is.
Associate

Condition
A requirement or state of affairs that must exist before something else can occur.
Employment
The state of having paid work; the act of employing someone.
Lack
V: to be without something; N: the state of being without or having an insufficient amount of something; use 'due to a lack of'.
Managerial
Relating to the duties or functions of a manager; often paired with 'staff' or 'experience'.
Diligent
Showing steady, earnest, and energetic effort toward a task; hardworking and industrious.
Familiar
To have a good knowledge of something or be well-acquainted with it; commonly used as 'be familiar with'.
Proficiency
A high degree of skill or expertise in a specific area or language.
Prospective
Expected or likely to happen or become something in the future; e.g., 'prospective employees'.
Appeal
To be attractive or interesting; as an intransitive verb, it is followed by the preposition 'to'.
Specialize
To concentrate on and become an expert in a particular subject or skill.
Apprehensive
Feeling anxious or fearful that something bad or unpleasant will happen; concerned.
Consultant
A professional who provides expert advice in a specific field; distinct from 'consultation' (the act of advising).
Entitle
To give someone the right or claim to something; commonly appears in the passive voice as 'be entitled to'.
Degree

A settled or regular tendency/practice especially one that is hard to give up; distinct from 'convention' (social custom).

Restrict
To put a limit on; to keep within certain boundaries.
Accustomed
Being used to something; requires 'to' followed by a gerund (e.g., 'be accustomed to -ing').
Corporation
A large company or a group of companies authorized to act as a single entity.
Demanding
Requiring much skill, effort, or patience; difficult.
Colleague
A person with whom one works in a profession or business.
Division
A separate part of an organization, such as a department or branch.
Request
