Management
The process of achieving organizational goals by planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling resources efficiently and effectively.
Planning (Function)
The act of deciding now what is to be done in the future.
Organising
Arranging resources, including workers, materials, machinery, and budget.
Staffing
The process of hiring the right people for tasks, such as a Mason, Electrician, or Painter.
Directing
The process of leading, giving instructions, motivating, and solving problems.
Controlling
Checking whether work is going according to plan and correcting it if it is not.
Man (Resource)
Refers to the employees of an organization.
Material (Resource)
Raw materials used in production.
Machinery (Resource)
Equipment used as a resource in management.
Money (Resource)
Capital required for organizational operations.
Moment (Resource)
Refers to Time or Methods as a resource.
Efficiency
Doing things right with a focus on resources to achieve Minimum Input → Maximum Output.
Effectiveness
Doing the right things with a focus on results and achieving goals, such as maximizing sales.
Top Management Planning
Long-term planning typically spanning 5-10 years.
Middle Management Planning
Planning that focuses on the medium-term.
Supervisory/Lower Management Planning
Planning that focuses on the short-term.
