1999 - Kosovo war: Speaks out in favour of NATO involvement, despite going against many on the left of his party. It was reported in the media as the so called ‘Blair doctrine’ of ethical humanitarian intervention. This was successful and popular

Weaknesses

2006 - local elections and reshuffle: Labour lose 319 councillors in 2006 elections. This is blamed on the ‘foreign prisoners scandal’ when 1023 prisoners weren’t considered for deportation. Charles Clarke replaced as Home Secretary in the biggest major reshuffle of Blair’s tenure

2006 Cash for honours scandal: 12 Labour nominated peers found to have given over £13M to the party. Blair interviewed 3 times as a witness but not under caution. Charges were all dropped. Blair critic and former Cabinet minister Clare Short speaks out against Blair
