Emergency Activation Button (EAB)

A mechanism to limit and control radio transmissions to only the crew(s) in distress, Dispatch, and the Incident Commander.

Restricted Talkgroup

A feature providing a radio with priority usage over all others on the county radio system except for Dispatch, allowing a user to cut-off another user transmitting on the same channel.

Ruthless Preemtion

A ficticous unit designation that carries the same meaning as Signal 13

Squad 99

An increased duration from 30-60 seconds that occurs when the EAB is pressed.

PTT Transmission Time Out (Emergency Mode)

A feature that prevents the radio from being turned off in Emergency mode until the user exits the mode by depressing the EAB for 2 seconds.

Emergency Keep Alive Feature

A radio feature that wi; turn off automatically if the EAB is pressed while it is enabled.

SCAN Feature (Emergency Mode)

No Acknowledge

The message shown on a radio display when the radio is out-of-range of the system or the emergency alarm is not acknowledged.

WWW

A transmission acronym representing 'Who, What, Where' that should be included in all activations if possible.

The process where Dispatch tries to raise a unit via Alert 3 Tone and the phrase '(Unit #) check your display and advise' two times over $30\,seconds$.

Authentication Prompt

Alert 3 (Informational) ToneThe specific tone used by Dispatch to authenticate an EAB activation or to notify that a talkgroup is restricted for a Signal 13.

Alert 3 (Informational Tone)

The tone initiated by the dispatcher once a Signal 13 is authenticated, followed by the announcement 'This talkgroup is restricted for (Box #)'.

Alert 2 (Pulsating/Warble Tone)

A low pitched beep emitted every 10 seconds to indicate that a Talkgroup is restricted.
