Oral Cavity
Structures including teeth, lips, tongue; plays a role in initial food processing.
Esophagus
Tube connecting the oral cavity to the stomach.
Fundus
The upper dome-shaped portion of the stomach.
Pylorus
Muscular valve regulating the exit of food from the stomach to the duodenum.
Duodenum
First part of the small intestine, receiving chyme from the stomach.
Jejunum
Middle section of the small intestine between the duodenum and ileum.
Ileum
The final section of the small intestine before the large intestine(colon).
Cecum
First part of the large intestine that receives undigested material from the small intestine.
Ascending Colon
Section of the large intestine ascending from the cecum.
Transverse Colon
The part of the large intestine that passes horizontally across the abdomen.
Descending Colon
The section of the large intestine descending from the transverse colon.
Sigmoid Colon
The last section of the colon, connecting the descending colon to the rectum.
Rectum
Final section of the large intestine, storing feces before elimination.
Anal Canal
Terminal part of the digestive tract, through which feces are eliminated.
Appendix
A small, finger-like pouch projecting from the cecum.
Liver
A large organ located in the upper abdomen that produces bile.
Gall Bladder
A small sac-like organ that stores and concentrates bile produced by the liver.
Ejaculatory duct
Duct that carries sperm from the epididymis to the ejaculatory duct.
Prostate
Gland in males surrounding the urethra that produces fluid that contributes to semen.
Bulbourethral gland
A gland located next to the prostate gland that produces fluid that contributes to semen.
Uterus
Organ of the female reproductive system where a fetus develops.
Fallopian tube
Tubes through which oocytes are transported from the ovaries to the uterus.
Urinary Bladder
Organ that stores urine before it is excreted.
Urethra
The tube that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of the body.
