What happens in both exo and endocytosis
Large molecules are transferred across cell membrane
Bulk transport, as they can transfer large quantity of material.
They both require energy, provided by ATP
What happens during endocytosis
Particles or molecules are transported into the cell, this can include large molecules such as proteins.
In first stage, cell membrane folds inwards to form a cavity around the particles (invagination)
The membrane then encircles the particles to form a vesicle
Then the vesicle moves into the cell. and goes to where its required

What is phagocytosis
When solid materials such as bacteria are taken into cells by endocytosis.
What is pinocytosis
When liquids / dissolved solutions are taken into cell by endocytosis.
What happens during exocytosis
Moves material out of the cell (excreted proteins / enzymes)
At start of exocytosis, the proteins are found in golgi apparatus, the proteins are modified here before being secreted.
Vesicles containing the protein bud off the golgi apparatus and make their way towards cell membrane
Vesicles then fuse with cell membrane , and protein secreted
