- can be a source of contamination for instruments, hands and equipment as they settle
what is waterborne transmission
transfer of organisms through contaminated dental unit waterlines
- water left in lines creates a biofilm
- significant pathogens are Legionella pneumophila and Pseudomonas aeruginosa
