How does the net force act down an inclined surface with no friction?
It acts parallel down the surface.
How does the weight force (F=mg) act on an inclined plane with no friction?
When an object is placed on an inclined plane like a ramp, the weight forces still acts vertically downward.
When an object is placed on an inclined plane with no friction, how does the normal force (FN) act?
The normal force acts perpendicular to the ramp surface.
What will happen when an object is placed on an inclined plane with no friction?
The object will begin to slide down the surface
Calculate normal force acting within a right-angle triangle with no friction:
FN=mgcos(theta)
Calculate net force acting within a right-angled triangle with no friction:
(sigma)F= mgsin(theta) or Fnet= mgsin(theta)
What happens in a inclined plane with friction when an object is not moving?
Static friction applies up the slope
What are is happening with the formulas when a mass is at rest on an inclined plane with friction?
N-mgcos(theta)=0 AND mgsin(theta) - friction = 0
Provide what is happening with the folmulae when an objejct is sliding down an inclined slope:
The rules of kinetic friction apply. So, when mgsin(theta)-kinetic friction = 0, the object will travel at a constant velocity. And, when mgsin(theta) >0, Fnet > 0, the object will accelerate down the slope.
Draw a diagram of what is happening when an object is moving on an inclined plane:

How do you calculate acceleratioin when you are given force and mass?
By the formula a=F divided by m
How do you know that an action reaction pair is acting on objects?
The forces act on different objects, are opposite in direction but the same in magnitude.
What distinguishes an external force to an internal force?
An external force originates from outside the system’s boundary and interacts with it, whereas an internal force is exchanged within the different components or particles of a system.
What effect will an internal vs external force have on an object?
An internal force has no effect on the motion of the object, while an external force does.
