U-stem Verbs
poder, estar, tener, saber, poner, andar
I-stem Verbs
querer, hacer, venir
J-stem Verbs
typically ending in -cir, including traer, decir, and producir.

“to be able to”; 'pud-' in the preterite (U-stem)
Estar
“to be”; 'estuv-' in the preterite (U-stem)
Tener
“to have”; 'tuv-' in the preterite (U-stem)
Saber
“to know”; 'sup-' in the preterite (U-stem)
Poner
“to put”; 'pus-' in the preterite (U-stem)
Andar
“to walk”; 'anduv-' in the preterite (U-stem)
Querer
“to want”; 'quis-' in the preterite (I-stem)
Hacer
“to do/to make”; 'hic-' in the preterite (I-stem); with a special form 'hizo' for el/ella/usted.
Venir

J-stem Verbs Conjugation
In the preterite, the ustedes and ellos/ellas forms of J-stem verbs end in -eron, not -ieron.
Stem Changing Preterite
NO ACCENTS; one set of conjugation for all verbs (use -ar preterite conjugations for yo and ello/ella form; and use -ir/-er preterite conjugations for everything else)
