chemicals that alter the brain and changes mood

withdrawal

the discomfort and distress that come after stopping the use of a drug or behavior

barbiturate

drugs that calm the CNS and reduce anxiety but clouds memory and judgement

opioids

depress neural activity and lowers pain and anxiety for a short amount of time

stimulants

drugs that excite neural activity and speed up the body

hallucinogens

mind manifesting drugs that distort perceptions and evoke sensory images

near-death experience
