RECIST
Response Evaluation Criteria In Solid Tumors, a standard approach to measure solid tumors and evaluate treatment response.
Target Lesions
Lesions chosen for measurement and tracking in cancer evaluation, typically limited to 1-5 lesions.
preferably the biggest lesions
maximum of two per organ
Non-target Lesions
Lesions that cannot be precisely measured but can be followed for changes (e.g. ascites, pleural effusion).
Sum of Longest Diameters (SLD)
Calculation of the total longest diameters of the target lesions, used to assess tumor response.
Complete Response (CR)
Total disappearance of all target lesions and any new lesions.
Partial Response (PR)
At least a 30% decrease in the SLD from baseline.
Progressive Disease (PD)
At least a 20% increase in the SLD from the lowest point or Nadir.
Stable Disease (SD)
No significant change in SLD and neither PR nor PD.
Baseline Study
Initial assessment of the patient's tumor size and characteristics before treatment starts.
Follow-up Evaluation
Assessment conducted after treatment to monitor changes in tumor lesions.
