Research Framework
A structure or blueprint that outlines the research plan and helps the researcher develop relevant research questions and concepts aligned to the methods.
Theoretical Framework
A set of concepts, theories, ideas, and assumptions that help understand a specific phenomenon or problem, acting as a lens that guides research.
Conceptual Framework
A graphical presentation or schematic diagram of concepts and ideas on the basic structure or components of research and the relationships of these elements with one another.
Theory
An established general explanation of a phenomenon used as an organizing model for research questions, hypotheses, and collection procedures.
Theoretical Analysis
A part of a theoretical framework that pertains to the diagram or description of the theoretical foundation.
Principles of the Theory
A component of the theoretical framework that identifies the highlights and important features of the theory.
Concept Map
A visual representation made up of varied figures like lines, circles, and boxes representing research questions, variables, and their relationships.
Paradigm
The actual framework or diagram within a conceptual framework.
Caption
The short description of the figure number of the conceptual framework.
IPO Model
Input-Process-Output; a paradigm used mostly in descriptive research to present major variables, causes, and data analysis processes.
IV-DV Model
Independent Variable-Dependent Variable Model; a paradigm used in experimental and non-experimental research for cause and effect, currently used in IMRAD format.
PC Model
Predictor-Criterion Model; a paradigm used in correlational research to present the correlation between two major research variables.
POM
Proposed Original Model; a paradigm used when the researcher designs or creates an original framework, mostly in experimental research.
Independent Variables
The subject matter items or variables that are manipulated or considered the cause, such as the SFG components in the mentioned study.
Dependent Variable
The variable that is being tested and measured, such as critical thinking in the Systematic Functional Grammar study.
Systematic Functional Grammar (SFG)
A modern language theory stating that critical thinking increases through ideational, interpersonal, and textual functions of language.
Deductive
The logical approach through which a theoretical framework works.
Inductive
The logical approach through which a conceptual framework works.
