What geographic area are these EMS protocols restricted to?
The State of Texas.
Can a patient be transported to or from the covered area under this protocol?
Yes, as long as the transport does not involve taking the patient outside the State of Texas.
When can these protocols be used to help another EMS agency?
When officially requested to assist another EMS organization with mutual aid, anywhere in Texas, or to back up a 911 call.
What two conditions must be true for the protocols to apply during a call in Texas?
There must be an emergency patient care need as defined by the protocols, and the crew must be on-duty as defined in Section A-10.
If a patient's condition requires transport outside of Texas to maintain standard of care, what must the crew do?
Follow all respective state laws accordingly, with due regard to patient care.
If the nearest hospital is out of state, can these standing orders still be used?
Yes, as long as the patient stays in the care of the Ambulance Service's personnel during that transport.
