Observational learning
learn through imitating others, without necessarily seeing any rewards or punishments
(Ex. a kid sees their friend skateboarding and tries to copy them)Â
Modeling
a person might model behaviors of others they identify with
(ex. A child’s mom always wears a tight bun, so the child insists on going to school with a tight bun)
insight learning
learning that occurs suddenly, in a flash when elements of a situation come together.
(ex. You drop something under a couch. It’s too far deep in there to get out with your hand. You have an aha moment and use a stick to push the object out)
latent learning
 Learning before you realize it.
(ex. Your dad drives you to school everyday. One day you need to walk to school. You are able to do the route perfectly without any prior practice)
Vicarious reinforcement/punishment
changes acting based on other’s consequences.Â
(ex. Someone was cheating on their test and the teacher screams at them and says that this will go on their permanent transcript. You learn to not cheat)
Biofeedback
Operant technique to gain volunteer control over bodily processes (heart rate, blood pressure)
(ex. Deeply inhaling and exhaling to calm yourself and slow your heart rate)
