Software-Defined WAN (SD-WAN)
A type of overlay network that provisions a corporate WAN across multiple locations and facilitates secure access to the cloud directly from a branch office or other remote location.
Microsegmentation
A security technique in SD-WAN that applies granular security policies to segments of the network.
Zero Trust Security
A security model that requires all requests for access to be authenticated and authorized, without relying on the assumption that requests from inside the network are trustworthy.
IPSec
A protocol suite for securing Internet Protocol (IP) communications by encrypting and authenticating all data packets.
Controller and Management Software
Software in an SD-WAN solution that orchestrates connections to networks and clouds, managing the SD-WAN operations.
Overlay Network
A virtual network built on top of an existing physical network, allowing for more flexible management and configuration.
Transport Network
The underlying physical network infrastructure that carries data traffic, such as broadband Internet or MPLS.
Orchestration
The automated management and coordination of network resources and services in an SD-WAN environment.
Branch Office Topology
A network design where branch offices access the central datacenter or cloud, typically routed and authorized via a hub office.
Secure SD-WAN Link
A secure connection established through SD-WAN technology to ensure data integrity and protection during transit.
