DV

The variable that is measured. Change in DV should be caused by change in IV.

The researcher doesn’t change the IV the change occurs naturally. The researcher records the change to the DV.

Quasi

Almost an experiment, but the IV is not determined by the researcher they simply exist. E.g being young, old or being a taxi driver or not etc strictly speaking not an experiment as IV is a pre-existing characteristic.
