Ovarian fossa

The anatomical location on the lateral wall of the true pelvis where the ovary lies.

Ovarian ligament

A structure that connects the lower end of the ovary with the uterus at the uterotubal junction.

Suspensory ligament of the ovary

Also known as the infundibulopelvic ligament, it is the part of the broad ligament lateral to the uterine tube that connects the upper end of the ovary to the sidewall of the pelvis.

Infundibulopelvic ligament contents

Contains the ovarian artery, ovarian vein, nerves of the ovary, and lymphatics.

Ovarian artery

A branch of the abdominal aorta which arises just below the origin of the renal artery.

Right ovarian vein drainage

This vessel drains directly into the inferior vena cava.

Left ovarian vein drainage

This vessel drains into the left renal vein.

Ovarian lymph drainage

Lymphatics from the ovary drain into the lateral aortic lymph nodes, also known as Para-aortic L.N.

Mesovarium

A short peritoneal fold which connects the anterior border of the ovary to the posterior surface of the broad ligament.

Oophorectomy surgical precaution

During this procedure, the surgeon must take care about the ureter during ligation of the infundibulopelvic ligament.
