What was EIV’s first aim in domestic policy?

• Did not seek to extend his powers as king but he did try to use these powers to return England to good governance by re-asserting royal authority.

How did EIV re-assert royal authority?

• Use new men such as lord Hastings - these were talented, self made men who owed their positions to EIV personally.

What did EIV do after his coronation?

• Spent his time touring areas where serious disorder still existed, such as the east midlands and north - often taking with him a judicial commission which he was often personally involved in.
