PAR-Q
Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire, a pre-assessment tool used to determine if an individual is medically ready to engage in physical activity.
Fitness
A condition in which an individual has enough energy to avoid fatigue and enjoy life.
Health-Related Fitness (HRF)
Components of physical fitness that play a vital role in the holistic development of a person, comprising cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition.
Skill-Related Fitness (SRF)
Components of physical fitness that enhance or focus on performance in athletic sport events, comprising agility, balance, power, speed, coordination, and reaction time.
Cardiovascular Fitness
The ability of the heart and lungs and blood vessels to deliver oxygen to working muscles and tissues as well as the ability of those muscles and tissues to utilize the oxygen.
3 Minutes Step Test
A physical fitness test used to measure cardiovascular endurance.
Muscular Strength
The maximum amount of force a muscle can exert against an opposing force.
Basic Planking
A physical fitness test used to measure the strength and stability of the core muscle.
Muscular Endurance
The ability of the muscles to do repeated work over an extended period of time without fatigue.
90 Degree Push-Ups
A physical fitness test used to measure the strength of upper extremities.
Flexibility
The ability to move a body part through a full range of motion (ROM) at a joint.
Zipper Test & Sit and Reach
Physical fitness tests used to test the flexibility of upper and lower extremities.
Body Composition
The ratio of body fat to lean body mass (including water, bones, muscles, and connective tissues).
Body Mass Index
The physical fitness test used to measure body composition.
Agility
The ability to move in different directions quickly using a combination of balance, coordination, speed, strength, and endurance.
Hexagon Agility Test
A physical fitness test used to measure the ability of the body to move in different directions quickly.
Balance
The maintenance of equilibrium while stationary or while moving.
Stork Balance Test
A physical fitness test used to assess one's ability to maintain equilibrium.
Power
The ability of the muscle to transfer energy and release maximum force at a fast rate.
Standing Long Jump
A physical fitness test used to measure leg strength and power.
Speed
The ability to perform a movement in one direction in the shortest period of time.
40 Meters Sprint
A physical fitness test used to measure running speed.
Coordination
The ability to use the senses with the body parts to perform motor tasks smoothly and accurately.
Juggling
A physical fitness test used to measure the coordination of the eye and hand.
Reaction Time
The amount of time to respond to a stimulus.
Stick Drop Test
A physical fitness test used to measure the time to respond to a stimulus.
Bureau of Physical Education and School Sports (BPESS)
The former bureau that prepared the standardized Physical Fitness Test to provide information regarding overall physical fitness status.
