What defines a class 1 lever?
The fulcrum sits between the load and the effort force.
Give an example of a class 1 lever.
A seesaw.
What defines a class 2 lever?
The fulcrum is at one end, with the load closer to the fulcrum.
Give an example of a class 2 lever.
A wheelbarrow.
What defines a class 3 lever?
The fulcrum is at one end, with the effort force closer to the fulcrum.
How do you find the MA of a class 1 lever?
Effort distance divided by load distance, which also equals load force divided by effort force.
How do you find the MA of a class 2 lever?
The same way as a class 1 lever: effort distance divided by load distance.
Where is the load distance measured from on a class 2 lever?
From the center of the load.
How do you find the MA of a class 3 lever?
Load force divided by effort force.
What is the quickest way to tell the lever classes apart?
Look at what sits in the middle: class 1 has the fulcrum, class 2 has the load, class 3 has the effort.
