Popular art
Any dance, literature, music, theater, or other art form intended to be perceived and appreciated by ordinary people in a literate, technologically advanced society dominated by urban culture.
Performance art
An artwork or art exhibition created through actions executed by the artist or other participants.
Visual art
Refers to art forms that express their message, meaning, and emotion through visual means.
K-Pop
A short term for Korean pop, is a genre of popular music originating from South Korea.
J-Pop
Short for Japanese pop music, refers to the genre of popular music originating from Japan.
C-Pop
Short for Chinese pop music, refers to the genre of popular music originating from China.
Cosplay
A short term for "costume play," a performance art and a hobby where cosplayers wear elaborate costumes of their favorite characters from movies, TV shows, video games, and comics.
Manga
Specifically refers to Japanese-style graphic novels (book-length comic books) originally published in Japan and published in translation.
Anime
Refers to the genre of Japanese-style 2D animation.
Animated Movie
A movie made from a series of drawings, computer graphics, or photographs of inanimate objects (as puppets) that gives the appearance of motion by small changes in each frame.
Street Art and Mural Painting
A contemporary art form used to spread a message rather than to create something visually appealing.
Asian-ness
The surge of popular culture including anime, K-Pop, and manga in other countries, including non-Asian countries creating their own "Asian" popular culture as a commercial response.

KCON
The world's largest fan celebration of Korean culture and music, held in the United States in 2012.
Nakama
A group of characters, which is the focus of Japanese anime compared to the single hero focus of Western animation.
MASCULINE
Refers to traits and behaviors typically associated with males, such as strength, assertiveness, and independence.
NORMS
Established guidelines or standards of behavior that are considered typical or acceptable within a particular society or group.
SOGIE
Stands for sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.
SEX
Refers to the biological and physiological characteristics that determine the difference between females and males.
GENDER
Pertains to the social roles, behaviors, and activities dictated by society for women and men, encompassing various types beyond just two categories.
GENDER EQUALITY
A condition where individuals have equal access to resources and opportunities irrespective of gender; also referred to as sexual equality or parity of the sexes.
Assault
An act of intentionally causing harm or injury to another person, typically involving physical force or violence.
Constitution
A set of fundamental principles or established standards according to which a state or other organization is governed.
Harassment
Behavior that is threatening, disturbing, or annoying, especially when it is repeated over time or is intended to force or intimidate someone.
Law
A system of rules created and enforced by a particular country or community, regulating the behavior of its members and addressing disputes or crimes.
Legislative
Relating to the branch of government that is responsible for making laws, typically a parliament or congress.
Policies
Guidelines, principles, or rules set by an organization, institution, or government to achieve specific goals or address particular issues.
Violence
A behavior involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something.
GENDER BIAS
Treatment where individuals are treated unequally or shown preference based on their gender, often leading to disadvantages for one gender.
GENDER STEREOTYPE
Beliefs about how people of a specific gender should act or be, shaped by societal norms, usually adhering to binary categories like male/female or feminine/masculine.
GENDER DISCRIMINATION
Unfair treatment based on gender, primarily affecting girls and women, resulting in unequal opportunities and rights.
