get measuring tape and get two people to stand oppositely between the river and read the measuring.

split the length of the river into 10 sections and measure each section using a meter ruler.

Adv- gives lots of data, fast and simple

dis- human error and rocks can be at the bottom of river (less accurate data)

define wetted perimeter

how much the sides and river bed touches the water

place chain in side of the river where the water hits, and let it dip and go across the river bed all the way to the other side of the river, then lift it and measure the parts of the chain where it got wet.

how to measure the gradient

measure a part of a river where is straight, put a person each for each end, holding a meter ruler. The person at the lower end uses a clinometer at eye level, using it to aim at the other persons
