Joseph Gallowway

the five delegates formed a committe to write a statement in support of Lee’s resolution, the decleratioln listed spesific grieviances against george III’s government expressing the basic principles that justified revolution government

2.6 million people lived in the 13 colonies, 40 % of them actively joined the stuggle against britain calling themselves american, 25 percent sided witht he british as loyalists, also the largest number of them were from new england states and virginia
Tories
revolutionary war was in some respects a civil war in whih anti-british patriots fought pro-british loyalists maintained allegiance to the king, almost 60,000 fought next to the british soldiers supplied them with arms and food and joined in raiding parties to pillage patriot homes and farms

cornwallis defeat at yorktown was a heavy blow on the tory party in parliment that was conducting the war. the war had become unpopular in britain partly becasue it placed a heavier strain on economy and government finances

Northwest Ordinance of 1787
large territory lying between the great lakes and the ohio river valley congress passed a law that set the rules for creating new states the northwest thing granted limited self government developing territory and prohibited slavery in the region
