What is specific gravity?
The density of the substance divided by the density of another substance, used as a standard, this standard is usually H20 at 4 degrees celsius (H20 density is 1.00g/mL at 4 degrees celsius)
Sp. gr. equation
Sp. gr. = density of substance at 20 degrees celsius/density of water at 4 degrees celsius
What is sp. gr. used to measure?
To compare how much heavier a substance is compared to the standard (H2O), it is just another aspect of density given in different units
Can you change sp. gr. into density?
Yes you can just change the units as long as the standard (H2O) is water
