Anorexia Nervosa
A severe eating disorder characterized by extreme weight loss and intense fear of gaining weight, often resulting in calorie restriction and distorted body image.
Bulimia Nervosa
An eating disorder characterized by binge eating followed by compensatory behaviors, such as purging, excessive exercise, or fasting.
Binge Eating Disorder
A new disorder in DSM-5 involving recurrent episodes of eating large quantities of food accompanied by distress, without compensatory behaviors.
Obesity
A condition characterized by excessive body fat, typically defined by a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or greater.
Dyssomnia
Sleep disorders characterized by difficulties in the amount, quality, or timing of sleep.
Parasomnia
Abnormal behavioral and physiological events that occur during sleep.
Body Mass Index (BMI)
A measure that uses height and weight to classify individuals as underweight, healthy weight, overweight, or obese.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
A psychological treatment that aims to change patterns of thinking or behavior that are responsible for individuals' difficulties, commonly used for treating eating disorders.
Night Eating Syndrome
A condition characterized by episodes of eating during the night, often presenting with low levels of hunger in the morning.
Hypersomnolence Disorder
A sleep disorder marked by excessive sleepiness and prolonged night sleep or frequent daytime napping.
