What is the ‘relative formula mass’?
The relative formula mass of a compound is the sum of the relative atomic masses of the atoms in the numbers shown in the formula.
How can you calculate relative formula mass?
You can calculate relative formula mass by calculating the total of the relative atomic masses of each atom/molecule
How does relative formula mass relate to moles?
The relative formula mass describes how heavy 1 mole of the molecule is (CO2 has a Mr of 12 (carbon) + 16 (oxygen) + 16 (oxygen) = 44 g/mol)
In a balanced equation how does the reactant relate to the product in terms of relative formula mass?
In a balanced equation the Mr of reactants = Mr of products
How do you find the relative atomic mass of an atom?
On the periodic table the R.A.M is above the atom, or you could add the number of protons and neutrons
