Medium Soil Texture
Surface soil texture category characterized by a ribbon length of <1′′.
Moderately Fine Soil Texture
Surface soil texture category characterized by a ribbon length of 1−2′′.
Fine Soil Texture
Surface soil texture category characterized by a ribbon length of >2′′.
Deep Soil
Soil depth classification measuring >40′′ to a limiting layer.
Moderately Deep Soil
Soil depth classification measuring 20−40′′ to a limiting layer.
Shallow Soil
Soil depth classification measuring 10−20′′ to a limiting layer.
Very Shallow Soil
Soil depth classification measuring <10′′ to a limiting layer.
Deposition (Past Erosion)
Past erosion state where there is more current topsoil present than original topsoil.
None to Slight Erosion
Past erosion level resulting in less than 25 % (<25 %) loss of topsoil.
Moderate Erosion
Past erosion level resulting in 25 %−75 % loss of topsoil.
Severe Erosion
Past erosion level resulting in more than 75 % (>75 %) loss of topsoil.
Depression Slope
Slope designation defined visually as a bowl shape.
Nearly Level Slope
Slope category with a gradient of 0−3 %.
Gently Sloping
Slope category with a gradient of 3−6 %.
Moderately Sloping
Slope category with a gradient of 6−9 %.
Strongly Sloping
Slope category with a gradient of 9−15 %.
Steep Slope
Slope category with a gradient of 15−25 %.
Very Steep Slope
Slope category with a gradient of >25 %.
