Old Major
An elderly pig who inspires the rebellion by teaching the animals that humans are the source of their suffering and providing a vision of a future without human oppression.
Napoleon
A large, powerful, and quiet pig who focuses on personal control, secretly raises the puppies, and eventually becomes a dictatorial leader after expelling Snowball.
Snowball
An intelligent and energetic pig who is Napoleon's rival, leads the animals during the Battle of the Cowshed, and proposes building a windmill for farm progress.
Boxer
A strong, hardworking, and loyal horse whose mottos include "I will work harder."
Squealer
A persuasive pig who uses propaganda and manipulation to defend Napoleon's decisions and manage the animals' understanding of events.
Animalism
The system of ideas based on Old Major's teachings that humans are the enemy, animals should control their own lives, and all animals should be equal.
Seven Commandments
The seven revolutionary rules written on the barn wall, including "All animals are equal" and prohibitions against human behaviors like wearing clothes or drinking alcohol.
Beasts of England
The revolutionary song introduced by Old Major that represents freedom, rebellion, and hope for a better future.
Battle of the Cowshed
The event where the animals, led by Snowball, successfully defend Animal Farm against an attack by Mr. Jones and other humans.
Windmill
A project proposed by Snowball to produce electricity and reduce workload, which eventually becomes a symbol of the conflict and political manipulation between Snowball and Napoleon.
Mollie
A horse who values luxury, ribbons, and sugar over revolutionary ideals and eventually leaves Animal Farm for human comfort.
Benjamin
An intelligent, skeptical, and cynical donkey who often understands more than he says about the farm's changing structure.
The Dogs
A group of puppies secretly raised by Napoleon that grow into a personal force representing fear and control, used to expel Snowball from the farm.
Sheep
Easily influenced animals who repeat slogans and represent how groups can be manipulated by those in power.
Milk and apples
The first items taken by the pigs for themselves, serving as the early signs of inequality and special privileges on the farm.
Clover
A kind and caring female horse who is concerned about the well-being of the other animals.
Mr. Jones
The original human owner of Manor Farm who represents the old ruling system and is overthrown by the animals.
Propaganda
Information, often biased or misleading, used by Squealer to promote Napoleon's agenda and control the animals' perspective.
