Abdominopelvic Quadrants
Divisions of the abdomen into four regions: Right Upper Quadrant (RUQ), Left Upper Quadrant (LUQ), Right Lower Quadrant (RLQ), and Left Lower Quadrant (LLQ).
Right Upper Quadrant (RUQ)
The section of the abdomen that includes the liver, gallbladder, and part of the intestines.
Left Upper Quadrant (LUQ)
The section of the abdomen that contains the stomach, spleen, and part of the intestines.
Right Lower Quadrant (RLQ)
The section of the abdomen containing the appendix, cecum, and part of the intestines.
Left Lower Quadrant (LLQ)
The section of the abdomen housing parts of the intestines and reproductive organs.
Hypochondriac Region
The area of the abdomen beneath the ribs.
Epigastric Region
The upper central region of the abdomen, located above the stomach.
Lumbar Region
The area of the abdomen located to the right and left of the umbilical region.
Inguinal Region
The lower lateral regions of the abdomen, also known as the groin.
Hypogastric Region
The lower central region of the abdomen, located below the umbilical region.
Midclavicular Line
An imaginary vertical line through the midpoint of the clavicle used to demarcate regions in the abdomen.
