Law # 1: Law of the lid
Leadership Limits Success
The principle that leadership ability is the lid that determines a person’s level of effectiveness; leaders can grow through dedication and willingness to work.
Simplified:
Your leadership ability determines how effective you can be. The better your leadership skills, the better your results. Leadership can improve through continuous learning and practice.
Law # 2: Law of Influence
Inspire Others
States that the true measure of leadership is influence, nothing more and nothing less; it involves raising people up to their highest potential.
Simplified:
Leadership is about influencing people, not just having a title. A true leader inspires others to grow and reach their full potential.
Law # 3: Law of Process
The idea that leadership develops daily, not in a day, requiring leaders to determine the road they must travel and set others on a course for success.
Law # 4: Law of Navigation
Refers to the leader's ability to chart the course and navigate through challenges and obstacles to reach success, rather than just steering the ship.
Law # 5: Law of addition
Leaders add value by serving others and intentionally making themselves valuable through listening, learning, and leading.
Law # 6: Law of Solid Ground
Trust is the foundation of leadership; leaders must make sound decisions, admit mistakes, and put the organization ahead of personal agendas.
Law # 7: Law of Respect
The principle that people naturally follow leaders stronger than themselves; respect as a person leads to admiration, while respect as a leader leads to following.
Law # 8: Law of Intuition
Leaders evaluate everything with a leadership bias, using intuition gained through experience to measure and solve problems.
Law # 9: Law of Magnetism
The concept that 'who you are is who you attract'; to attract better people, a leader must first become the kind of person they desire to attract.
Law # 10: Law of Connection
Leaders must touch a heart before they ask for a hand; it involves developing credibility and meeting people where they are before asking them to follow a vision.
Law # 11: Law of the Inner Circle
A leader’s potential is determined by those closest to them; leaders should surround themselves with people they admire and respect.
Law # 12: Law of Empowerment
Only secure leaders give power to others; it involves identifying and building up leaders by giving them resources, authority, and responsibility.
Law # 13: Law of the Picture
People do what people see; followers copy the right actions shown by their leaders to achieve success.
Law # 14: Law of Buy - In
The principle that people buy into the leader first, then the vision; without personal credibility and trust, followers will not commit to the cause.
Law # 15: Law of Victory
Leaders find a way for the team to win and share an unwillingness to accept defeat, figuring out exactly what must be done to succeed.
Law # 16: Law of the Big Mo
Momentum is a leader's best friend; it makes tasks easier and obstacles appear small, requiring vision and a good team to create.
Law # 17: Law of Priorities
Leaders must understand that activity is not necessarily accomplishment; it requires prioritizing time based on what is important to the overall vision.
Law # 18: Law of Sacrifice
A leader must give up to go up; there is no success without sacrifice, and the heart of leadership is putting others ahead of oneself.
Law # 19: Law of Timing
States that when to lead is as important as what to do; the right action at the right time results in success, whereas wrong timing leads to mistakes.
Law # 20: Law of Explosive Growth
To add growth, lead followers; to multiply, lead leaders. Developing leaders creates a multiplication effect for the organization.
Law # 21: Law of the Legacy
A leader’s lasting value is measured by succession; they are judged by how well the people they invested in carried on after they are gone.
