Geometry Basics Vocabulary

A set of vocabulary flashcards defining basic geometric terms and postulates from the lecture notes.

Point

A location that has no size or dimensions.

Line

An object that is endless in two directions, where the only dimension is length.

Segment

A portion of a line strictly lying between two points, having a measurable length.

Collinear Points

Points that lie on the same line.

Coplanar Points

Points that lie in the same plane.

Angle

An object formed by two intersecting rays with a common endpoint.

Plane

A flat, two-dimensional object that is endless in two directions.

Ray

A geometric object that forms an angle when two of them intersect with a common endpoint.

Point of Intersection

The location where geometric figures, such as rays, cross or meet.

Segment Addition Postulate

The rule stating that if point $B$ is between $A$ & $C$, then $AB + BC = AC$, and if $AB + BC = AC$, then $B$ is between $A$ & $C$.
