Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
Common STD that may be asymptomatic in males, persists on the cervix, and can progress to cancer.
HPV Vaccine
Immunization series that prevents high-risk HPV strains; key patient-education topic.
Pap Smear
Cervical screening test; no vaginal meds or intercourse for 24 h prior to the exam.
Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS)
Life-threatening reaction to retained tampons or other foreign bodies; fever, vomiting, diarrhea, sepsis signs.
Sepsis
Systemic infection response with fever, hypotension, tachycardia; must be reported immediately.
Radical Mastectomy
Removal of the entire breast plus underlying muscle and nodes, creating a concave axillary area.
