Electroencephalograph (EEG)
Detects, amplifies and records electric activity of the brain, detecting electrical impulses and presenting them as brain wave patterns, which indicate their state of consciousness.
Beta Waves
High frequency, low amplitude
Alph waves
High frequency, low amplitude (less intense than Beta)
Theta waves
medium frequency, medium- high altitude
Delta Waves
Low frequency, high altitude
Electromyography
Detects, amplifies and records the electrical activity of the body’s muscles, recording movement and tension
Electro-oculography
Detects, amplifies and records electrical activity of the muscles responsible for eye movement. Using the physiological response to determine the type of sleep they’re experiencing.
Sleep Diary
Record containing self reported descriptions of the quality, nature, thoughts and feelings before and after, and estimated time of their sleep, including both qualitative and quantitative data.
Video Monitoring
Using camera and audio technologies to record an individual as they sleep, tracking their movements, sounds, and their sleeping and waking cycles. Interpretation of the footage is subjective.
