Atom
The basic building block of all matter in the universe, consisting of three tiny types of particles: protons, electrons, and neutrons.
Nucleus
The heavy center of the atom that holds protons (which have a positive charge) and neutrons (which have no charges).
Electron Clouds
A space around the nucleus where tiny, negatively charged electrons move very fast.
Utilization of Electricity
Involves safely and efficiently converting electricity into mechanical power, heat, and light.
Electricity
The flow of tiny, negatively charged particles called electrons from atom to atom, serving as a form of energy that can be harnessed to power devices.
Static Electricity
The build of electric charge on the surface of an object, usually caused by friction (like rubbing two objects together).
Current Electricity
The continuous controlled flow of electrons through a material, typically a wire, which is used to power lights and appliances.
Examples of Static Electricity
Doorknob shock, balloon on hair, dryer cling, combing hair, and taking off a sweater.
Examples of Current Electricity
Lightning, Aurora borealis, bioelectricity, alternating current, and direct current.
